Hideo Kojima denies PlayStation acquisition rumors

Hideo Kojima has denied that his studio is being bought by PlayStation after intense speculation. Hideo Kojima has been working closely with PlayStation since the end of 2015. The platform holder had his back after leaving Konami and funding his first project, death strand. Although he has worked closely with them, he remains an independent developer and Kojima Productions does not have any other relationships with Sony. Rumors have it that Hideo Kojima is working on an Xbox-exclusive horror game that will be powered by new cloud technology. Despite all of this, fans are starting to think there might be something bigger going on in the studio.

Earlier this week, PlayStation updated the PlayStation Studios banner image to display death strand. Although it is a PlayStation exclusive, many have been amazed by it because every other game has been from a PlayStation owned studio. This led many to believe that this photo was a precursor to a larger advertisement. Now, Hideo Kojima has shared the photo with the PlayStation Studios logo on the tweet. After seeing the fans’ reaction, Kojima explained in a follow-up tweet “It sounds misleading, but Kogebro was and will be an independent production studio,” he said.

There have been many rumors of a big PlayStation acquisition coming soon, but no one knows when or for whom it is. To add more fuel to the fire for fan theories, Hideo Kojima is moving into a new office. On its own, this might sound like nothing, but the timing of it all was enough to send Kojima fans into a whirlpool. At the moment, Hideo Kojima has not announced any specific game, but it is believed that he is working on two different games. Some hope to be Death Stranding 2, but nothing has been confirmed. Hideo Kojima is expected to reveal his next game at The Game Awards at the end of the year.
